Assassin's Creed cosplay by Ectheo8 Assassin's Creed cosplay by Ectheo8
this is my cosplay of Altair from Assassin's Creed I made for Ohayocon '06. I wish I could have made it better, but I had a whole 10 days to design and make it.
3/4 of the stuff is from walmart. The leather is fake (except the boots), and the all the metal (except the sword) is cardboard covered in aluminum foil tape. the sword is a yardsick (I'll have a better pic of it), also covered in foil tape. The infamous spring powered dagger is instead centrifugal (no metal or spring weapons allowed at most cons), and is made of cardboard and a popsicle stick all covered in foil tape.
About 70% of people thought I was a white mage (he is supposed to look like a priest to blend in... but when you're dressed in so much white and you're able to walk right past your friends in a room full of goths, yeah, I'd have to say social stealth works). The rest thought I was the cobra ninja guy from GI Joe.
Most of it is held together by duct tape and hot glue, the sewing machine died pretty quick. I plan on making a ridiculously detailed one for this year, with real leather and metal (not weapons).

Duct tape!! XD
Well it stayed together pretty well for duct tape and gluegun ;D
I'd love to do an AC cosplay, but I don't really go to the city or anything, so I'm not sure if there would be too much point...
Nevermind, I'll run around my neighbourhood dressed like Altair!! *drools*
Its actually a really great costume for low budget, and 10 days, seriously.
^^ I'd love to see the next one!

FAGFACE!! You suck you ILLEGITIMATE FAGGOT! You are too much of a lard ass to pull off that costume! Good luck getting a girl to even look at you because you are a SLIMY INCOMPETENT PIECE OF SHIT. I bet you will never pick up a real weapon in your life because you are too much of a WIMPY PUSSY. You FUCKING REDNECK-ASS BITCH-ASS PUSSY-ASS WANNABE-ASS DORK-ASS FAT-ASS WHORE-ASS DUMB-ASS

Could you please shut up? if you don't like his cosplays, just stfu and don't spam around here like some fag, how about constructive comments? gosh.

I have a new version if this one does not satisfy you. And for your information, I am a duello fencer and heavy weapons fighter in the SCA, so I have plenty of experience with weapons. You should be glad I have the patience to respond to such an immature comment.

Omg ahaha. I'm really sorry, someone posted a link to this on a gaming site for people to laugh at. The costume is actually okay, but you just look way to goofy for it. Oh wow, aha. Good job anyway though. Hehe.
Prota-Girl Featured By Owner Dec 21, 2007 even have the blade...fantastic job!!! I plan to do one for my brother Shane and make myself a Female Version for me, we`re gunna be sibling cosplaying.
But you did a awesome job! Its bout time i saw a good cosplayer that doesn't use everything like a Pro would (low budget)
Mind if I use this as a mild reference?

I'm making a new one if you want some better stuff to go off of. all I have to say is that the hood is a pain in the ass.

Otherwise I can help you out if you want.
Prota-Girl Featured By Owner Dec 22, 2007
yea, the hood looks hard o.o
I plan to get a hoodie and use that as a base, XD I got the fabric for the belt, sash thingy. So i got a start, some pants and boots. I recently discovered that his pants were white..o.0; but I see you have brown ones so I`ll keep my brown ones as well. ^^ I`d love to see the progress. You did a awesome job on the sheath.
Ectheo8 Featured By Owner Dec 23, 2007
don't use a hoodie for a base for the hood, it's way too small. look up how to make a medieval hood, it's much more useful. the pants are grey by the way, and the shirt is supposed to be very light grey, but all I had was was straight white. I'm making the boots by hand (very difficult, not for newbies to sewing). The boots in this pic are some thigh boots I had on hand. The actual sheath is much more complicated, it's going to be hard for me to make an accurate replica.
Prota-Girl Featured By Owner Dec 24, 2007
I got Brown pants....but I figured no one would completely notice. xD My Brother will be the more, authentic Altair. xD I believe I`m just doing a Female Version or something..o.0;
But I was thinking about that, but I haven't been able to look for a hood pattern. ;.;
I`ll tell my father we can`t use a hoodie. I told me we should`t but when he has an idea, he tends to stick to it. XD But thankies for the tips, if you have more, I wouldn't mind. ^^'

if you really want to, you can use a hoodie for a base, you just have to make it alot bigger. probably your biggest challenge is gonna be the belt-thing. First off, the way it is worn is physically impossible (there's no buckle or anything, it's a magical solid piece of leather with no seams or connections) Most other cosplays I've seen just blatantly have a connection in the back and don't have any of the pockets. I have all the pockets (can't see them in this pic, I will get all arounds next time) and I'm trying to hide the connection behind the large pouch. The red cloth thing is another mystery to be solved.

If you need help with anything else, go a head and ask away.

I know! 0.0
I was trying to figure it out myself!!
How did you do it!?
and I did remember when I made my Vincent Valentine cape, there was another cape pattern that came with it and it was a hooded cape pattern, would that work?
Ectheo8 Featured By Owner Dec 27, 2007
the first belt i made used velcro, but it needed constant maintenance and fell apart alot. this time I'm trying some do it yourself closure snaps and hope they work better. You can do just about anything as long as you hide it, no one will see your "creativity".

as for the hood, try this page. I found it very useful. just a few modifications make this a decent assassin hood.

Good costume, but I don't like this fabric in dress - too thin. In original most better to use wool fabric or coarse line.
MorbidPrincess122 Featured By Owner Oct 14, 2008
For 10 days it's pretty good ^.^ It takes some time to source good fabric to use, and money can be an issue too.
Ectheo8 Featured By Owner Jul 24, 2007
yeah, i agree, I thought it would look better than it turned out.

Very nice work on the costume. I'm pretty sure you had a tight budget, which makes your costume even better considering that.

And it must suck being called a white mage instead of an assassin. But people will come to recognize you soon enough, I'm sure.
Ectheo8 Featured By Owner May 30, 2007
I didn't mind be called a white mage. It made it easier to take them out later...

holy shit!!!!!!
man, i gotta make one too
this is awesome!!!!
impressive details, you followed exactly what the trailers and gameplay videos showed!
you said you wanna make a better one.... that's gonna be hard, cause this is already fantastic!!!
keep it up
Ectheo8 Featured By Owner May 4, 2007
... I guess it's ok... but I'm real critical and I could spend half an hour pointing out everything wrong with it. it's kinda just thrown together, I never really expected someone to be so... enthusiastic about it.

otherwise, you'll probably shit yourself when you see the next one >:)

thanks for the comment
szhaddad2 Featured By Owner May 6, 2007  Hobbyist Digital Artist
the inly thing that i can say that wasn't like the original costume is that the material you used to make the white and the red colths [sorry for my lame english, i suck at english] is too.... 'thin' [dunno if this is the right word to describe it =/]
otherwise its quite impressive!
i wanna see when the other one is done!
Ectheo8 Featured By Owner May 6, 2007
I could not find the fabric I wanted for the life of me. That was the best I could do with my budget and schedule.

WOOOOOOOO! great outfit!!!!! like amazing!! and the sword is fantastic!!! That is definetly going in my top best made and worn cosplay costume! The detail is great, i can't belive people didn't know who you were, it's so obvious! Although i supose Assassin's creed isn't very well known yet. You'll have to put up the one you're going to do this year too. When is your convention on? *mines on in august/september*
Ectheo8 Featured By Owner Apr 2, 2007
thanks. It's kinda embarrassing to have my picture on the internet (one of the reasons I picked this outfit is because I thought it would hide my face more), and thanks for encouraging me to put it up.

Your welcome, and it looks great! When i go to my convention this year (Manifest) i'll put my cosplay pics up too!!
